1. No break from Hair Extensions
Extensions allow you to give your thinning hair a thicker and fuller look but constantly wearing them can cause more damage than good. Hair extensions can put a lot of strain on the hair which the extensions are adhered to. This can causes excessive breakage and even alopecia. So remember to give your hair the rest it needs.
2. Overusing a Cover-up Powder
We understand that it’s a new day and there are many products on the market that mask the blading and thinning scalps. One of these products is a powder like fiber that you can shake onto your scalp to mimic the look of hair. Seems like an easy fix right? Well we must always remember with the pros come the cons. This colored fiber when repeated used may cause your follicle to become clogged and suffocate, creating more hair loss.
3. Skipping out on Regular Trims
Even for those with thinning hair, it’s better to get a haircut on a regular basis and strengthen your ends than to visit the salon only a few times each year. Regular cleanups will give you healthy hair and having clean, crisp ends give you the look of fuller hair.
4. Over use of Oils
A hair oil might make your hair feel nice and give it a nice shine, but it’s not recommended for individuals with thin hair since it is typically too heavy and leads to the strands becoming flat and stuck to the scalp. Instead of using oils do a deep conditioning treatment to achieve healthy hair.
5. Wet Ponytails
I think everyone can relate to being in a rush after a shampoo and just pulling back our hair into a ponytail. Doing so can cause serious damage, especially if you have thin hair. When hair is wet it over stretches, therefore pulling it up in a hair tie can cause added stress on the strands cause breakage. So always take into mind your timing when washing your hair.
